Brushcat Mower for Region 7 DEC

The Oswego County Sportsmen's Foundation with the NWTF and a Grant from Entergy have purchased a brush mowing attachment for the Region 7 DEC.  This brush mowing attachment will be used for evasive plant species control and grasslands  and brush land management.  This attachment will be used on a Bobcat skid steer loader which the DEC already has.  Total cost is around $6,200.00.
Update 12-23-09 The Brushcat mower has been delivered to the DEC Cortland.

Archery to be Taught in the Sandy Creek School system

With a donation from the Oswego County Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs, funded through this Foundation, New York Bow giving a Grant of $1,400 and funding coming from a DEC account funded by the National Wild Turkey Foundation, and local donations from the Sandy Creek Sports Boosters and a local Community Park Group, The Sandy Creek School system is participating in the National Archery in the Schools Program.  With Sandy Creek having a NASP Certified Instructor and the grant funding process above, archery is being taught in the Sandy Creek School system as part of their Skill for Life Program as part of there athletic program in grades K - 12.
UPDATE; (11-08) all of the Equipment has arrived and this program has started as of December.

The Oswego County Sportsmen's Foundation is seeking additional funding and partners to expand and offer this program to other schools in Central and Northern New York.
